Neil Hughes is by definition a systems thinker being a Savant with Autism and the founder of N-SCP.  A neurological assessment tool created from the belief that people aren’t broken—they’re responding. It’s a tool designed to help individuals slow down, observe their internal landscape, and make sense of how stress, emotion, and cognition interact in real time. By turning lived experience into structured insight, N-Scp gives language to what’s often felt but rarely understood—creating clarity, self-trust, and a path toward regulation instead of judgment.

Diagnosed with a new pathologizing label every decade since 1979, Neil  brings lived expertise to conversations about neurocognition, the assessment experience, sensory integration, and self-regulation. His work challenges traditional deficit-based models of assessment, advocating instead for individualized supports informed by a person’s unique sensory and cognitive profile.

Neil’s contributions to NeuroCog ensure that clinical insight remains connected to real-world experience—and that neurodivergent voices are centered, not interpreted from the outside.

Like most Savants, Neil is focused on global solutions to the environmental and mental health crisis, while being fully marginalized by the systems that need to be transformed. It is important to note that Neil is Federally Disabled from developmental trauma. It is those experiences that have inspired his drive to provide families with neurological tools and language so other kids like him may escape a life of disability or premature death.
